When reviewing the local Belgian PEPPOL authority (BOSA) [https://bosa.belgium.be/fr/BPA], there is a specific section about using the enterprise number as the Primary Identification :
” The only local directive that appeared necessary and legitimate is to impose the use of its Business number as the primary identifier when registering on the Peppol network.
In other words, Belgian companies are not allowed to use only another identifier to make themselves known on the network, as it is common knowledge that this type of practice leads to considerable difficulties.”
As far as we are aware this would apply for Belgian companies registered after 2022. So, the questions that arise are:
Can it be expected that the enterprise number will be the ONLY valid identifier for Belgian entities?
What should happen with companies that have registered to the PEPPOL Network before 2022 using another type of identifier like VAT number? Would they need to re-register with the enterprise number?
Will they remain with the identifier they have registered to?
Primary /secondary identifiers
If BOSA refers to the enterprise number as the PRIMARY identifier (“The only local directive that appeared necessary and legitimate is to impose the use of its enterprise number as the primary identifier when registering on the PEPPOL network.”), is it possible that an entity can have a SECONDARY number?
